  1. Bella and Me

There are lots of dog owners our neighbourhood. On my walks (sans dog) I see lots of those dogs. They all have their charms, especially one particular little something-or-other called Bella. When I bump into Bella and her owner on my walks, her owner (whose name I don't know) stops and chats. Bella waits patiently, and then they head off on their way again.

I believe there are stories everywhere, and that certainly must apply to Bella and her owner. The way my quirky brain works, I will usually make up one of those stories. And then I'll turn it into a song. And that's just what I've done with Bella and Me.

I dedicate it to every pet who has enriched someone's life.

Lyrics

Bella and Me

Bella is tiny, I keep her coat shiny
I walk her by the river twice a day
She watches the neighborhood
Keeps me in line but good
And drives those lonesome blues away

Bella and me
We keep each other company
In our tidy little home
Bella listens to me
When I tell her how things will be
And we are never alone

With our walking and all that
And our shared distain for cats
Bella and I make quite a pair

She sweeps away the strife
So I can’t imagine this life
If Bella wasn’t there

Bella and me
We keep each other company
In our tidy little home
Bella listens to me
When I tell her how things will be
And we are never alone

Teri and the grandkids live in London
They try to make it out here once year
As for Bella they just love her
As she climbs up on their laps when they are here

Bella has a wardrobe that sets her apart
From all those other dogs with simple fur
I knit it all myself straight from the heart
So Bella knows how much I care for her

I got Bella after Jim died
To help me make it through the pain
Since then she’s always been at my side
Thanks to her I’m on my feet again

Bella and me
We keep each other company
In our tidy little home
Bella listens to me
When I tell her how things will be
And we are never alone

Bella and me
We're never alone
