"Rich All The Same" is a song that tries to describe why Kevin Craib and I immerse ourselves in rehearsing, recording and performing. I don't think those reasons will come as a surprise to anyone, especially anyone who has seen us in concert.

Lyrics

Rich All the Same

There’s someone in our town
Selling donuts from a truck
Some days he’s kinda busy
Some days he’s outa luck

His wife handles the fryer
While he works at the door
It might just look like work to you
But to them it’s something more

It’s more than just a livin’
More than just the strife
Of being a donut seller
And a donut seller’s wife

That truck carries their hopes
That truck holds their dreams
So when it pulls up to the curb
It’s much more than it seems

I’ve tried to do the math
To see how they get by
But it never seems to add up
No matter how I try

So one day I just asked them
How do they make a go
They said, “To be honest,
We don’t really know”

The said, “We might not make much money doing this
It all depends upon the game
We might not make much money doing this
But we got rich all the same”

Playing songs for people
Still gives us a thrill
It’s always been that way
And I guess it always will

We dream of going big time
The theatres, the lights
We might never get there
But then again, we might

Hit parades and accolades
That’d be great some day
Good reviews and interviews
That’d be okay

Yet, there's these songs that find us
And the joy of working them through
And the feeling that we can’t describe
Playing them for you

So we just might make our fortune doing this
It all depends upon the game
But even if we don’t make money doing this
We got rich all the same

So, it doesn’t really matter
Which path fate might choose
Because we love this thing we do
We can’t really lose

So we just might make our fortune doing this
It all depends upon the game
But even if we don’t make money doing this
We got rich all the same

Thanks to you, we’re rich all the same
